How to Use Essential Oils
Massage—During an aromatherapy massage the aromatic molecules of the essential oil have a therapeutic effect both through absorption into the skin and through inhalation.
Compresses—For hot compresses, add a few drops of oil to a bowl of very hot water. Soak a clean cloth or bandage in the water, wring out excess and place over affected body part.
Ointments—Ointments can be made by adding essential oils to a commercial unsented cream or homemade cream.
Steam Inhalation—Steam inhalation helps clear the lungs
and sinuses of congestion and infection. Add 2-3 drops of
essential oils to a bowl of steaming water. Place your face
over the bowl and cover your head with a towel breathing
in the vapors of steam for a few minutes. Rest and repeat.
Direct Application—1or 2 drops massaged into the spot
Diffusion—Use a diffuser as directed to disperse oil in micro-fine vapor into the air.
Internal Use—Specific oils can be used internally by capsule, in a beverage, in cooking or directly on the tongue.
